coiffures

Hues of red, green and blue
will top the heads of some distinguished local citizens
over the next couple of weeks as Stone Brewing Co.
launches its fourth "Dye Your 'Do" for charity campaign.
About 50 people have already agreed to color their locks
in exchange for pledges that will ultimately benefit
Children's Hospital, the Palomar Family YMCA, Boys &
Girls Club of San Marcos and Looks Like Me. The three
previous hair-dyeing drives have raised $60,000. There
seems no shortage of participants. Stone CEO Greg Koch
thinks as many as 100 people will dye their hair between
this weekend and the fundraising finale Sept. 9 at the
brewery's 10th anniversary celebration and beer
festival. "We've been pretty successful at this," said
Koch. "It's a unique opportunity in most people's lives
to dye their hair a different color. Most are regular
folks who would never dye their hair in their lifetime.
This is a good chance to make a sacrifice for the good
of the community and people are hopping all over it."
