Sounding like ‘80’s dance moves, the
Barbie, the Bump and the Textured Ballet Bun are
actually hair styles and designs created by The Loft
Hair Design and Skin Care in Escondido.
By becoming the primary sponsor of the
2005 Traditions of Christmas fashion show, The Loft
is playing a larger part in the overall event.
In addition to provinding hair and
makeup for 24 models, The Loft will also creat gift
bags with products and gift certificates for the 820
partcipants and attendees at the event.
“The Boys & Girls club fundraiser has
been something I’ve always wanted to become more
involved in” said Shawna Cruise, founder and owner
of The Loft Hair Design and Skin Care. “It is a huge
high-end community event that benefits so many
children and is downb with ultimate class. [The
Fundraiser] has the opportunity to bring us, as
little local girls, to the level of national brands
such as MAC, that have done the show in the past.”
The fashion shows, running at 11 a.m.
and 2:30 p.m. on Friday, will be complemented by
either brunch or lunch, depending on the attendee’s
choice and will cost $80 and $100 accordingly.
A large aspect of the Christmas Tree
Lane annual fundraiser, the Traditions of Christmas
fashion show will highlight three distinct, hot and
trendy new hairstyles, according to Cruise. The barbie will feature a fun, sexy look with waves and
curls. The Bump is a chic, pulled-back look with
extreme height in the crown and the Texture Ballet
Bun is an exotic crimped style with hair extension.
Each hair style was hand-picked by Cruise and
Leonard Simpson, found of Fashion Forward and
organizer of Traditions of Chrismas, to provide
guests with a variety of hair-styling choices for
the holidays and beyond. Closed to the public on
Friday, the Loft will dedicate it’s staff and all
its resources to the fashion show and fundraiser.
“The Loft has been supporting us for
many years, but this is the first time we have had
the salon contribute and participate in the fashion
show directly,” said Valinda Cranfill, the Boys &
Girls Club of Greater San Diego resource
coordinator. “In respect to the fashion show, [The
Loft Hair Design & Skin Care and Studio 158] are
heliping us big time this year through hair, makeup
and design.”
Christmas Tree Lane, the annual
fundraiser benefiting the clubs, is endearingly
titled a “true friend-raiser” by Cranfill. According
to the Vista rededent, this year’s affair marks the
24th year and is a pivotal event for the
community of Escondido.
“This event really brings our community
together, “ Cranfill said.
A Mini Cooper convertible donated by
Brecht BMW/Mini and a Christmas tree accompanied by
a $100 check are a few of the raffle items.
“It is an incredible event that sparks
the holiday season and puts you in the throws of the
Christmas spirit.” Said Anita Dunn, Escondido
resident, co-chair and 12 year contributor to the
Christmas Tree Lane event. “It is an event that we
start woring on in January, culminating the first
week of December each year. It is that fabulous.”
While the fashion show and black-tie
gala are geared toward adults, the breakfast with
Santa at 9 a.m. Saturday is geard to children and
their families. The event will cost $15 for children
younger than 2 and A$40 for all others.
All the proceeds from the fundraiser
will benefit programs and services at the Boys &
Girls club of Greater San Diego.
“We are absolutely raising money, but
this is the one event that brings all of our Boys &
Girls Club family members together evey year, and I
think that is important because we have a very
strong sense of community,” Cranfill said. “All the
people that live in our community and in the
surrounding communities of North County really
support these clubs to make sure that kids have
someplace safe to go after school where they can
learn skills and make friends.”
